Membership Categories

In line with the approval granted to the Chartered Institute of Development Studies and Administration of Nigeria by the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammed Buhari, GCFR via his assent to the Bill for an Act to establish the Institute to commence operations, the Institute shall have the following 6 (six) grades of membership:

• Must be 18 years old or more.
• Must obtain West African School Certificate or General Certificate or SSCE in five papers of not more than 2 sittings
• Applicants must be a student in any approved University in Nigeria or Abroad, pursuing a bachelor’s degree programmes. Also, students in any approved College of Education, Polytechnics, Monotechnics or other equivalent tertiary Institutions of higher learning, shall be qualified for admission into the students’ membership grade to begin the qualifying professional examinations of the Institute as specified from time to time.

• Applicants in this category of membership must possess the bachelor’s degree from any recognized university in addition to passing out of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). Also, Higher National Diploma (HND) holders with the NYSC discharge certificate or exception letter will be admitted into this grade. However, to gain advancement to the next grade of membership (Associates), all graduate members must pass the Institute’s qualifying examinations as specified by the Institute from time to time. However, students with related qualifications may be granted exemption in some papers or all the papers at the foundation level

To qualify for admission into this professional grade, applicants must:

• Must be 21 years of age and above
• Applicant must have passed the qualifying professional examinations of the Chartered Institute of Development Studies and Administration as specified by the Institute from time to time.
• At least 5 years relevant work experience in public organisation
• possess a good bachelor’s degree from any recognized university or the Higher National Diploma from any recognized Polytechnic, Monotechnics or other equivalent Institutions of higher learning.
• Possession of the NYSC discharge certificate or exception letter is mandatory.

To qualify for admission into this professional grade, applicants must:

• Applicants must have been an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Development Studies and Administration for at least three years in addition to obtaining 50% score in the Institute’s Continuing Mandatory Conferences, Workshops, and Annual General Meeting as may be decided by the Governing Council of the Institute from time to time.
• In the same vein, applicants with postgraduate qualifications and commensurate industry/academic experience may be considered for full membership of the Institute.

• Applicants who must have been a full member of the institute for at least 5 years In addition to scoring 50% in the continuing mandatory conferences, workshops and Annual General Meeting organized by the institute may be considered for fellowship of the institute. Also, Individuals who have excelled in academic/professional career may also be considered for fellowship award

• This grade of membership is exclusively reserved for achievers who have contributed immensely to the growth and development of the institute (Chartered Institute of Development Studies and Administration) and Nigeria in all ramifications and are ready to do more.
